The Workout Balls are a great piece of equipment especially if you are unable to go to the gym or out for a run. If you have a ball at home you can use it any time. Have it ready inflated and available. Make a habit of sitting on it – perhaps whilst you watch the television. Then begin to carry out gentle exercise with few repetitions. Over time you can build up the intensity and the number of exercises you work through at each session.
I am a great believer in first building a habit. The most difficult part of exercise, especially in the home, alone, is to make sure that you actually do it on a regular basis.
I would suggest that if you have to exercise while you have young children around you do not incorporate any type of weights which could be dropped. Just use your own body weight until the children are in bed.
Just sitting on Workout Balls improve posture, balance and co-ordination. So do use one when needing to sit for a while.
Try lying on the floor with your legs and bottom on the ball. Then lift your body at the same time squeezing your buttocks together. Lower to the start position. This is a good way to firm up those glutes.
Maybe this is the type of thing you wouldn’t want to do in public. Not yet anyway. That’s one of the good things about this piece of equipment. You can do it in private. This will get you ready to go exercise with others.
Of course, the drawback with exercising at home is that it is easy to opt out. It requires a great deal of self discipline to regularly work through the routines you set yourself. However do work on a small exercise regime for yourself. Something fairly simple to follow through. That is, don’t start with something that you find is so difficult that you are put off beginning the session. Start simple and build up gradually. It’s surprising how much you can do given the time to build an exercise schedule with Workout Balls into your normal everyday life.
